From Vincent in San Jose,CA:
Someone from Beijing in my college classroom said she went
back after a two-year absence to find the city has changed
so much because the coming Olympic games have meant so much
new building is going on and so many foreigners moving in,
it's almost heartbreaking for her.

    SCANDAL BY TENNIS RACQUET COMPANIES
In an exclusive report from Olympic Almanac, we now expose
the false labeling of tennis racquets by major tennis players
and their sponsoring tennis racquet manufacturers.
If you've wondered why some people spell "racquet" as "racket,"
it is probably due to the fraud perpetuated in the following
examples:
1. Andre Agassi's racquet labelled "Head Ti Radical" is really a 13 oz. Donnay
2. James Blake's racquet labelled "Dunlop" is really a custom made
mysterious creation
3. Boris Becker's "Estusa" is really a Puma
4. Thomas Muster's is also repainted.
To clarify, it is a fraud to paint a racquet with the logo and
overall design of one company and tell consumers what they see
the players playing with is what they are purchasing.
The TV broadcasters don't expose this because they are paid by these
advertisers; Same with the print media. [See our tennis blog]
Best way to train for the 10K is at Puerto Rico's
World's Best 10K $100,000 Dollar Challenge
held on Feb 24th, 2008 where that's the prize for anyone
who breaks the world record.
Hey, has anybody heard from some of their high school or college
friends about some training stories? Over at Stanford Univ.
I notice athletes going for an additional 2 mile run after their
specific sports training, Also, an hour of weight lifting.
Prevent cramps by taking a caramel or chocolate calcium square!
It tastes better than an unflavored tablet which tastes like chalk!
Don't do like tennis player Marcos Baghdatis in his famous match
vs. Andre Agassi and keep playing through cramps. I tried it and
the cramps got so much worse I thought I would never unbend my leg
or foot! Good thing a friend helped!
Also, don't practice for a 50-meter sprint by running eight of
them in an hour. Hamstring pull!
Seems like future Olympians are always listening to tunes.

How Olympicalmanac.com started:
My friend was a college student at UCLA working on the staff
at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. One assignment was to chauffeur
tennis players. He drove Stefan Edberg and chatted with him,
and also Steffi Graf.
He asked me if I knew who was in the finals of either men's or women's
tennis and I had no idea and tried to find out. I thought that
there needed to be a resource on the Internet for this,
so I founded Olympicalmanac.com !
Now you can find the info on this site!
Hello, Fellow Olympic Enthusiasts,
Here are some stories I've heard about training for the Olympics:
For the 10K, gotta eat right, Typical lunch is 5 oz. of
skinless baked chicken and 6 stalks of asparagus.
Gotta run a 10k in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Hello, All,
Here are some organizations that help Olympic hopefuls
with programs and sponsorships:
U.S. Army
Nike,
United Parcel Service (UPS)
